How do I use the Logic Editor in Piced to send an output string to the RS232 Port?

The first requirement is that the PACA must have 24V AC power pack has to be connected providing at least 20mA to power the RS232 communications. Without this, even with the logic correct, it will not work at all.

In order to "speak" RS232 from a PACA, the Serial IO Examples within the logic help file cover off the required code to get any RS232 communications off the ground.

Basically though it comes down to opening the connection with the correct parameters using the OpenSerial() procedure. Once this is done, we can begin to use the WriteSerial() Procedure to send strings to the device, and the ReadSerial() procedure to capture messages from the PACA from its buffer up to a specified character (generally a carriage return).
