The most effective arc flash safety programs are not those that rely on worker training, warning signs, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) but those that look to incorporate “safety by design” or other mitigation techniques. This paper reviews those design choices and engineering controls which help to minimize the arc flash hazard.
