Vision systems

In the modern manufacturing environment, vision systems are becoming increasingly critical to minimise defects and maximise profitability. They are unique in their ability to capture product data, such as correct positioning and alignment, and initiate corrective action within the production line.

Osiview vision systems from Schneider Electric’s Telemecanique Global Detection range offer manufacturers a simple, yet innovative solution to their vision sensing needs. The range incorporates vision controllers, along with lighting accessories, monitors and lenses, all of which can be easily set-up with a user-friendly software system.

Cameras are incredibly compact, measuring just 50 x 31 x 29mm without lenses, allowing easy accommodation in new production line designs and retrofit applications. Versions are available suitable for either stationary or moving targets, in three models – the XUVM110, the XUV M210 and the XUV M230.

Each camera has varying parameters, including number of channels, monitoring models (such as line or binary window), automatic triggering and position / rotation adjustment. Osiview lenses are available with focal lengths from 8.5 to 50mm, allowing production managers to choose the best model for their specific application.

All of these vision controllers can operate as stand-alone devices, using a plug-in keypad and the unit’s built-in menu system for parameter definition. Alternatively, they can be connected to a PC or PLC using the two integral RS323 ports.
