Control electronics

The control of the switchgear is implemented by a microprocessor based control and protection system, located in the pole top control cubicle (PTCC). The PTCC is common for all products and is software configured for the appropriate protection, detection and remote control options.
Once connected together, the switchgear and PTCC form a fully remote controlled and monitored recloser or sectionaliser. Power for the controller is derived from internal lead acid batteries, which are charged from the auxiliary supply.

Each of the switchgear functions have on board electronics which store data such as ratings, transducer calibrations and operations counters. Autonomous storage of such data in the switchgear and the programmable nature of the controller; means that any PTCC can be coupled to any switchgear without losing ratings or functions such as contact wear indication. Full filtering, surge protection and short circuiting of CT’s is also provided by the interfacing electronics.
Full programming of the controller can be implemented through the operator front panel or using the windows switchgear operating system software (WSOS) from a connected computer.
