Liquid filled transformers

|
Ground mounted transformers cover from 200kVA up to 5000kVA with voltages up to 36kV insulation level on the primary, with a selection of voltage ratios available and are easy to choose and easy to specify.
Ground mounted Transformers are arranged so that the MV & LV terminations are positioned on opposite long sides of the transformer tank. In addition, transformers larger than 5000kVA can be supplied through Merlin Gerin Transformers by our sister company France Transfo. These transformers are available in ratings up to 60MVA with primary insulation levels up to 36kV; 50MVA with primary insulation levels up to 72kV.

The Merlin Gerin range of transformers is available with a choice of dielectric insulating fluids – Mineral Oil to BS 148:1998, Midel 7131 transformer fluid (high fire point fluid) or Silicone fluid (high fire point fluid).
Transformers can be ordered with a choice of losses including standard loss, low loss or capitalised losses. A wide range of standard fittings are available including off circuit tapping switches, drain sampler valves, liquid level indicators and more.

- Substantial and Robust to withstand short circuit stresses and outdoor environments
- Coils are wound from annealed high conductivity copper & aluminium, insulated with paper and/or synthetic enamel
- Helical, multi layer and foil wound coils are used according to the application
- Cold Reduced Grain Orientated Silicon Steel laminations are used, securely clamped to form cores with minimum loss and noise
- Transformer tanks are of welded steel construction, with cooling fins or bolted on panel radiators
- Exterior surface preparation and painting makes them suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications
- Tank Fittings are in accordance with BS6436
