Safety processing with Preventa safety solutions
The processing of safety signals is essential to ensure correct functioning of your safety system. Safety processing devices from the Telemecanique Preventa family provides you with a simple, cost effective and scalable solution, offering three main functions:
- Monitoring of safety related inputs, from emergency stop buttons to light curtains
- Checking the integrity of the associated wiring for short circuits, open circuits or tampering of the circuitry
- Monitoring the function of the final switching devices, usually contactors, to ensure motors, pumps or other source of power can be safely isolated upon a demand for an emergency stop.

AS-interface Safety at Work |
Many applications require the simultaneous monitoring of many safety functions, but the physical layout of the machine or process is best served using a distributed architecture - that is, the field devices are connected to a communication network , rather than individually wired back to a central control panel.
By using AS-interface, it is possible to reduce large amounts of multi core cabling and distribute both power and control signals over one cable, reducing design, installation and maintenance time and costs.
AS-interface Safety at Work allows the monitoring of up to 31 safety devices per network, with a maximum length of 500m, all monitored by the ASISAFEMON safety monitors. The wide range of safety interfaces mean many different types of devices can easily be connected to the AS-interface network quickly using insulation displacement connection (IDC).
